A provincial evaluation of this town’s “Pamilihan ng Bayan” was held last week in a bid to duplicate a  feat the Ubay Public Market had achieved  two years ago.
The evaluation team was composed of representatives from the different national government agencies and private sector arrived here from Tagbilaran Tuesday to conduct actual inspection and evaluation of the town’s public market.
Before going to their chores of inspecting the public market, the team called on acting mayor  Kagawad Clarita Alesna. Mayor Eutiquio Bernales was out of town at that time.
Inspection of public markets is a yearly program initiated by the Department of Trade and Industry to determine the town’s implementation of the  Fair Trade Law, and whether local authorities have shown genuine concern for consumer welfare. The team was also tasked to look into the  active participation of organized vendors and the real implementation, commitment and responsibility to consumers.
In the year 2006, the town was adjudged as Pamilihan ng Lalawigan winner while in  the regional level, Ubay town was one among the top awardees.
To show support to the evaluation team, different department heads of the LGU were there to extend a helping hand. GIEVERDZ-MPIO
