>PDEA Refresher Course

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) will conduct a refresher seminar for the police, local government units and representatives of line agencies on Saturday, January 24, at the provincial police headquarters in Camp Dagohoy, Tagbilaran City.
IO3 Yogi Felimon Ruiz, newly installed PDEA-Bohol provincial officer, said the seminar aims to reorient the police, among others, on the articles of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 to enable them to build airtight cases against suspects in drug abuse and trafficking. This will prevent dismissal of cases on technicalities, he said.
Ruiz, Sr. Supt. Edgardo Ingking, Bohol police director and Provincial Board member Ma. Fe Camacho-Lejos, chair of the Committee on Peace and Order, were guests during Gov. Erico Aumentado’s weekly radio program The Governor Reports simulcast live over the city’s two AM radio stations.
Aumentado introduced Ruiz and his assistant, IO1 Earl Rallos to his radio audience and the media. He said PDEA sent the two to Bohol to augment the current lone personnel operating in the province.
He said the move is in response to the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) resolution that had sought the deputation of the police force all over the province to cover the coordination requirement.
Ingking had told the PPOC during its meeting in Brgy. Abachanan of Sierra Bullones town last month that the requirement to coordinate with PDEA in every operation proved cumbersome considering that Bohol has 47 towns and one city while the agency had only one staff.
In answer to the resolution, Aumentado said PDEA Director General Dionisio Santiago sent Ruiz and Rallos from the regional office in Cebu to Bohol – ahead of a team that will be assigned here to cover, among others, the coordination requirement.
