>Jagna Sports Meet 2009

      Third delegations, comprising teams from Jagna, Valencia, Duero and Garcia Hernandez dubbed as JAVADUGH; Dimiao, Lila, Sevilla, Loay and Loboc or the DILISELOLO group; Bilar, Batuan, Carmen, Sierra–Bullones and Pilar or BIBACASIPI; and Candijay, Anda, Mabaini, Alicia and Guindulman or the CAMAG group emerged as the champion in the Bohol Provincial Athletic Meet 2009 held on February 5–6 at the newly-renovated Carmen town sports ground.
      Among the prominent provincial and national government officials who graced the event were Provincial Administrator Tomas Abapo Jr., representing Governor Erico Aumentado, and ranking officials of the Department of Education (DepEd)-Bohol headed by Schools Divisions Superintendent Elpidio Jala.
      Carmen Mayor Manuel Molina led local officials of the host-municipality and the townsfolk in thanking the provincial government bigwigs and the DepED officials for giving the progressive and peaceful interior town the chance to host the big sports event.
      In the final tabulation, Unit III got the highest point of 758- -a combined score of the elementary and secondary division in all events.
      The first runner-up went to the second congressional district or Unit II that garnered a total score of 715, followed by the first congressional district or Unit 1 with 481 points.
      As learned from Dr. Clement Jala, chief of Bohol’s Physical Education and Sports (PES) and Cirilo Calatrava, Physical Education (PE) supervisor, the start of the training of the selected athletes for the Palarong Pampook will be on February 23.
      The head of the Division Task Force for School Sports (DTFSS) also announced that the forthcoming Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) meet in Dumaguete City will be on March 15–22.
      However, the date of the Palarong Pambansa in Tacloban City is still to be arranged.
