Inabanga reaped honors anew when it bagged the Regional Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar (ROBNS) award in rites held at the City Sports Club Cebu Thursday.
Virgincita Anud of Barangay Cagawasan bested other contenders for the award, according to the Regional Nutrition evaluation held July 9.
Anud, 50, mother of 11, has served as BNS for nine years now. She posted an unprecedented 91.45% average in the nutrition areas evaluated.
National Nutrition Council 7 DIr. Parolita Mission conferred the plaque on Anud, who was accompanied by Dr. Mae Lilibeth Melicor, Municipal Nutrition Action Officer.  The award came with a cash prize of P12,000.
In her acceptance speech, Anud thanked Jumamoy, Team Inabanga and Cagawasan barangay officials for their persevering support.
Anud said she will share the amount for even better nutrition in her barangay.
She also encouraged her fellow BNS to excel and serve without thinking of anything in return.
Her zero malnutrition record in the barangay gave her the edge over other contenders regionwide. Records would also show that she rehabilitated undernourished children in her locality.
Anud initiated projects in cooperation with the barangay officials and barangay organization, including the establishment of a mini sari-sari store with fortified foods and sustainable stocks, supplemental feeding, distributing nutritious food rations to children, conducting home visitations and cooking demonstrations for mothers.
She also played a big role in the Malunggayan sa Purok, a half hectare plantation of malunggay located in Purok 1 that now serves as an Income Generating Project (IGP). The Barangay Nutrition Council (BNC) used the money generated to buy additional commodities for feeding.
She also contributed greatly in the implementation and sustenance of a money lending project as one of the livelihood projects in the barangay.
Anud does her ordinary tasks and responsibilities as a BNS in an extraordinary and committed way – a good example for other health workers in efficient and effective delivery of public service.
