>Health Program in Talibon, Bohol


TALIBON – Health services in this town are now being felt in the town’s remotest areas when Mayor Juanario Item added four new health facilities  in the barangays.
  Two new mini ambulances and generating sets were recently blessed and turned over to the barangays of San Carlos and Bagacay of this town.
  The new facilities were designed to transport pregnant women due for delivery to the birthing clinic of the barangay and sick person to the hospital.
  The mini ambulance in San Carlos  will extend its services to the neighboring barangays of Sikatuna, Zamora and Magsaysay while in Bagacay it could be used by the barangays of Rizal, Burgos, Mahanay and Tanghaligue.
  In San Carlos, Mayor Item gave the key of the new ambulance to Dr. Francisco Ngoboc Jr., municipal health officer. Ngoboc, in turn, handed down  the key to Fortunato Cajes, barangay chief. Kag. Visminda Flores, committee on health chair turned the facility to Luzviminda Juntilla, rural health midwife.
  In Bagacay, the turnover was held by Mayor Item to Dr. Ngoboc, then to Marciano Yana, barangay captain and finally  to Kag. Margarito Cutarra, committee on health and  Isaida Garcia, rural health midwife.
  In his short remarks, Mayor Item said  he purposely allocated P300,000 for the mini ambulances and generators just to improve the quality of health services in his town.
  He said that with these facilities he could achieve his goal to hit zero maternal death among mothers.
  He added and asked the concerned barangay officials to take extra and employ proper maintenance of the health facilities so it would last longer.
  He ended his message with the note that in  2009 he will add  three more ambulances to be given to other barangays for them to avail better health services likewise.
  Dr. Ngoboc said that his vision was to hit his  target to eliminate maternal death by 2010.
  Kag. Tomas Cornelio, SB on health services and appropriation said that he was always supportive to the program of Mayor Item more particularly in health aspects.
  After the short program, Rev. Fr. Antonio Tutor, parish priest of Bagacay blessed the new health facilities and the birthing clinic.
  Meanwhile, after the blessing ceremony, the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) headed by Zosima Gabisan distributed the PhilHealth Identification Card to the qualified beneficiaries who  belong to the poorest among the poor.
  The program was successfully conducted attended by the constituents of the barangays and its officials.
