Communications Equipment Recovered From Lawless MILF Group

Composite operating elements of the 104th Infantry Brigade under Col. Benito Antonio De Leon recovered assorted communication equipment of the lawless MILF group (LMG) following a raid near Barangay Nunang, Poona Piagapo, Lanao del Norte September 28 at around 10:00 in the morning.

Lt. Col. Agane Adriatico, GSC (FA) PA, said during a press briefing at the PIA Information Command Center that troops were conducting reconnaissance patrol about one kilometer from their temporary patrol base when they sighted more or less ten fully armed LMG under an unknown commander. The LMG had allegedly established a temporary encampment at Barangay Nunang.

Simultaneously, artillery fire was provided while the troops raided the suspected encampment, but the LMG instantly scattered and fled towards unknown directions. As a result, the troops recovered one ICOM Handheld radio, antenna cable and ICOM charger. The troops observed indications that the LMG had occupied the area for the past few days.

“The LGM’s actions only show that they are only good in harming innocent civilians, which is obviously a cowardly act,” Adriatico said, adding that “(they) are not capable of confronting the continuous law enforcement operations against them.”
