>Bohol’s Abatan River Tour


A creative team of local artists led by homing stage manager and director from Dela Paz has started brainstorming sessions to initiate the realization of the Abatan River Tour cultural presentations. 
Convened this time by a non government organization doing secretariat for the five town community tourism development, the team would form the core of artistic concept for the presentatations imbeded in the community river tours of Abatan, explains Emilia Roslinda, executive director of PROCESS Bohol
This is an initiative that supports the Abatan River Eco-tour project, she stresses while explaining to the coomunity members gathered at the DelaPaz barangay Hall how the project would help enhance the historical value and the culture and tradition of the people of Cortes, Maribojoc and Antequera. 
The team has already met thrice, in a span of two weeks, said Gardy Labad, artistic and cultural consultant for the project. 
The creative team is now composed of Los Angeles-based stage director, playwright and dramaturgist daughter of a nurse who has long migrated to the US, Gardy added while referring to Lorelei Garrote Trinidad. 
With her in the stage directorial job is another Boholano graduate of the Juliard Arts School, Orlando Pabotoy Jr., a respected actor and stage director now based in New York, Gardy said while adding Pabotoy would be co-directing the play on the Abatan River Tour.  
During a brainstorming actvity this week, Cortes creative writers led by former SB secretary Phillip Panong and journalist Sebastian Ocon listened to the oral folk tales of a lady archer named Wadji, the babaylan Tamblot and the famed legend of the silver bell.   
To date, the cretive team has buzzed eache other to explore artistic approaches to retell the stories of the place, while looking at the possible theme of love of place and home. 
Abatan River has been eyed by tourism stakeholders as a plausible alternative to decongest the already burdened Loboc-Chocolate Hills circuit while spurring tourism and economic activity on the other side of Bohol, Representative Edgar Chatto once told mayors of his dictrict.
