Delegates from the school districts of Loon-South, Loon-North, Calape, Tubigon-East and Tubigon-West, comprising Team 1B, emerged champion in the three-day Elementary Division of the First Congressional District Athletic Meet held January 11-13 at the Loon South Central School Elementary School grounds.

The team also clinched with the first runner-up title in the secondary division, closely following Team 1C which emerged as champion.

Team 1C is composed of the school districts of Antequera, Balilihan, Catigbian, Cortes and Maribojoc. Team 1A, composed of the school districts of Alburquerque, Baclayon, Corella, Dauis, Sikatuna and Panglao, placed third in both divisions.

The swimming team of Loon-South District ruled in the elementary-boys division category, while its counterpart in the girls ranked second to Team 1C.

Meanwhile, organizers had to abort the lawn tennis events in both divisions as the weather worsened. It caused no effect on the over-all standing of the teams, though.

On the other hand, there were no entries for the gymnastics (elementary-boys), arnis and chess (secondary-girls), and boxing and gymnastics (secondary-boys).

The final over-all result and standing of the teams is in the following order: elementary division, Team 1B–301 points; Team 1C–284 points; and Team 1A–266 points. In the secondary division, Team 1C–316 points; Team 1B–265 points; and Team 1A–249 points.

Loon Mayor Lloyd Peter Lopez, chairman of the First Congressional District Sports Council, handed out the trophies to the delegation heads or their representatives during the awarding ceremony on the afternoon of January 13.

Also present during the awarding ceremony were Bohol Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Maria Linda Namocatcat; Loon Vice Mayor Edwin Ladeza; Municipal Councilors Ricky Masamayor, Ignacio Castil Jr. and Narciso Neri; Loon ABC president Cesar Pedrigal; Loon South District Schools Supervisor Fernando Castañares; Loon North District Coordinating Principal Ma.
