>Bohol NBI Office Closed

Having only a few cases filed for investigation, top officials of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) decided to shutdown its district office here in the province starting next month.
The closure of the NBI Bohol District Office also prompted the recall of all agents assigned here. They will be posted in other provinces.
During a recent command conference held in Manila which was attended by all regional directors, the decision to close the NBI Bohol office was reached after it did not report any significant accomplishments.
The agents assigned here were also complaining that they could not keep up with the performance evaluations of other offices since there are no cases filed for them to investigate, according to NBI Central Visayas regional director Medardo de Lemos.
When the NBI management purportedly discussed the matter with Gov. Erico Aumentado, including the predicament of the agents, the governor agreed to the closure with the assurance that the clearance office will be retained.
Keeping the NBI clearance office here will not burden Boholanos who want to secure important documents such as passport or for employment application purposes.
According to De Lemos, the district office will be closed starting next month and the three agents assigned here will be recalled to their mother units.
De Lemos added that the province will still be covered by the bureau's investigative services through the regional office in Cebu.
The agents assigned here were given until the end of this month to wind up their cases before reporting back to their mother units.
