Best Information and Communication Technology (ICT) School

The quest for the best Information and Communication Technology (ICT) talent and school in Mindanao continues as the Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation, Inc. (Oro Chamber) is set hold the 3rd Mindanao Tertiary Schools ICT Quiz Show on October 3 at 2pm at the Atrium, Limketkai Center, this city.

Ateneo de Zamboanga which bagged the title last year aspires to keep the throne as they will be participating this year among the other schools which include the University of Immaculate Concepcion in Davao, Cagayan de Oro College (COC)-Phinma Education Network, Liceo de Cagayan University, AMA Computer Learning Center, ACSAT, Bukidnon State University, NORMISIST, University of Southwestern Philippines, MOSCAT and the Mindanao Polytechnic State College.

System analysis and design, networking, data structures, standards and policies, hardware, operating systems, programming languages and ICT trends and technology are the subject area that the students will have to focus on in order to win.

As Northern Mindanao is positioned to be the next ICT hub in the country, the quiz show has become one of the priority projects of the Oro Chamber which is aimed to showcase not only the students’ aptitude on ICT but also to promote their overall well-being through needed exposure trips and sharing of knowledge.

The half-day quiz show is one of the major highlights of the ORO BEST EXPO 2008. It will happen right after the closing activity of the 1st Mindanao Resources Conference on ICT (1MRCi) slated on Oct.2-3 at the Grand Caprice Restaurant.

With the support of CHED 10, STI College CDO as a co-presenter and the Office of the Presidential Assistant for Northern Mindanao Hon. Jojo Pupos, the said quiz show is the answer to the common goal of the Oro Chamber, partner agencies and the academe of enhancing human resource skills and thus alleviate poverty.
